Guru



Don’t look for a guru. Work on yourself and you will realise that whosoever comes in front of you is there to teach you something that will be like a stepping stone for further growth.


What did you learn from your mother, your first guru? What have you learnt from your teacher in school? Why do you need a guru now?


If you are looking for a guru to get something out of him, you will get one who will also expect something in return from you.


It is important not to look for one. Aspire for one patiently. Practise what you have learnt from books, teachers, and parents.


Many a times, you ask for a guru to remove your doubts, problems. In doing so you are asking for things for yourself. You want a guru to fulfill your demands, only then you will consider him to be a good guru. Also you often look for a guru who has the largest following. Your mind is tuned to certain requirements; then you test the guru to see whether he can fulfill your demands and desires. However, just like a nursery teacher cannot teach BA students, a BA lecturer may not be able to teach nursery level children. This does not mean that he is a bad teacher; only he might not have the patience to deal with children, and he might feel his caliber is going waste. Many of us want the highest guru for ourselves, then get frustrated if he does not live up to our demands. You may not know which guru is appropriate for your attributes and nature. Everyone has a different guru.


So what is important is to work on things that give you peace and joy instead of wasting your energy looking for a guru. Nature has decided your guru, only be deserving.
